About Me

I am a blogger/podcaster/freelancer combination. I began my path as an internet person in 2011 when I started my blog The Happy Arkansan out of my dorm room. Since then, I finished my Bachelor’s, got a Master’s, and began freelancing.

In 2017, after a tough few years in graduate school, I decided I needed to get back to basics. I always loved writing, and I wanted to see if I could make it work.

Since then, my freelance carer has took a few twists and turns. I started as a blog writer focused on higher education and marketing. In 2017, I got my first job writing human resources articles and I fell in love with it. Instead of niching down right away, I added HR to the fold.

In 2018, I took a course with one of my favorite freelance influencers, Abbi of Successful Freelance Mom. I got to have a one-on-one conversation with her and she pushed me to focus specifically on HR tech. I am so grateful, because I have been able to work with some amazing clients because of that push.

After working in HR Tech as a niche for a few years, I got the chance to join one of my clients as a full-time marketer in May 2020. Since starting my full-time role, I work with a number of pretty cool clients on the side.

About The Ambitious Freelancer

The Ambitious Freelancer started as a Facebook group in 2018 so I could share my advice and connect with other freelancers. In 2019, I decided to extend that even further with the podcast, Instagram page, and now this website. I am striving to share any and all advice I have so we can grow together. The Ambitious Freelancer is about making more room at the table because we all deserve success.
