Tools & Resources I Love
Do you want to know more about the tools I use every day as a freelancer? Here are some of the things I use to run my freelance business:
Grammarly
If you are sending emails or writing content and you don’t use Grammarly, what are you doing? I’ve trusted Grammarly with a ton of my writing over the years from client work to my Master’s thesis. I use Grammarly Premium, and it’s been one of my best weapons. It’s not the only way I check client work, but it’s a great start and catches many of my grammatical errors.
MailTrack
Getting left on read is no fun, but it is great to know your email was opened. Knowing when your email is opened helps you better anticipate interest and reach out to anyone opening your cold pitches. I use MailTrack Pro so I can see when emails are opened without notice. It’s not a pricey investment, and I use it in my freelance and blogging business.
Find That Email
Finding the right email is essential. Pitching a general inbox is a surefire way to get crickets, it’s so much better to pitch a single person in a company. Find That Email is a Chrome extension that scans LinkedIn profiles in search of direct emails. It’s an incredibly accurate and helpful tool. Plus, you get 25 free email finds per month.
Brain.FM
I cannot work with regular music in the background, but working in silence isn’t for me either. I found out about Brain.FM through another freelancer and I haven’t stopped using it yet. Brain.FM is a paid subscription, but it’s just $6.99 per month or $49.99 per year. You can try a few sessions free before you purchase.
Squarespace
Having a website has genuinely changed my freelance business. I use Squarespace to host my freelance website because it allows me to create a simple website that makes an impact on my clients. Squarespace is about $216 a year for the plan I use (Business.) There is a cheaper plan that would likely work for you (Personal), but it comes with fewer block options than the Business plan does.
