  1. Use a planner to plan my days wisely.

    • Day Designer weekly planner.

    • Google Calendar synced to my phone.

      • Add in extra information to my Google Calendar entries like the word count of articles due.

    • Asana for some of my work tasks.

  2. Batch tasks if possible.

  3. Use mornings, lunchtime, evenings, and weekends to my advantage.

  4. Make sure I’m tapping into my feelings regularly.

    • Burnout can sneak up on you if you let it. So, I make sure I don’t.

    • Take some weekends off.

    • Step away from the computer for a few hours every day.

    • Go to bed by midnight every night.

  5. Keep track of distractions and ensure they don’t get out of control.

    • It’s easy to get distracted, but when you have a lot on your plate, you don’t have time for it.

    • Keep an eye on phone usage and lock it away if it gets too high.

    • Use a site blocker like Freedom to control browsing.

    • Turn off Wi-Fi on your computer if you don’t need it to do the work you’re doing.

  6. Use productivity techniques to get work done quickly.

    • Pomodoro technique

    • Focus music

    • Clearing my mind with brain dumps.

    • Outlining work beforehand so it’s easy to write.

    • Working during times of the day where I feel most productive.

  7. Don’t feel the need to be the fastest freelancer.

    • Give yourself ample time to do assignments. Instead of promising work in three days, give yourself a week or even a week and a half.

  8. Put things on hold or de-prioritize certain activities

    • During my last interview with Samantha, we talked about de-prioritization and how important it is. When you have a lot of activities, you can’t handle everything. If you have a personal hobby that takes up time, you might have to put it on hold for a while.
